From a small room to a dream business – our journey with Ottossons Möbler

It all started in 2023 when we, brothers Simon and Ludwig, saw the potential in transforming old furniture into new possibilities. In Simon's small room of just seven square meters, we cleaned small two-seater sofas and some three-seater sofas, as well as smaller pieces of furniture. We washed the upholstery in a washing machine and polished with microfiber cloths so that each piece of furniture would look and feel as fresh as possible.

The room quickly became our little “warehouse and studio” and Simon got new furniture almost every week. One day there was a grey sofa there, the next day maybe a beige or blue model, fun to keep trying new things. It was cramped, but we enjoyed it. When the furniture was ready we took photos, which was a challenge because the space was limited and the camera almost didn’t fit.

So we placed ads on Blocket and Facebook Marketplace with the ambition that someone would see the value in what we were doing and take home something that was recycled and affordable.

Simplicity and service became our hallmark

From day one we offered free home delivery throughout Skåne. The furniture fit in the trunk of the family car, Ludwig drove (recently with a driver's license) and we always helped with delivery and assembly. No extra stress for the customer, just safe and personal service.

When we had sold about thirty pieces of furniture, we took the next step and moved into a warehouse in Löddeköpinge. There we started working with larger pieces of furniture such as divan sofas, U-shaped sofas and dining sets. Sundays became our workdays for pickup and delivery, and weekdays were devoted to reconditioning.

Every profit was reinvested in the business: textile care machines, piling drills and high-pressure washers, etc. By April 2025, we had already sold around 200 pieces of furniture and officially started the company: two years of learning, dedication and full focus.

What happens next?

We dream big. We want to develop our e-commerce, reach customers throughout the Nordic region and continue to build our network with collaborations. The next goal is to move to a larger warehouse closer to Malmö and eventually offer deliveries that are completely vehicle-free, for an even more sustainable process.

We want to show that used furniture not only saves resources but can also be part of a stylish and accessible everyday life.
